IMESA: the Company, the People & the Equipment

Imesa is a name many people haven’t heard of in the UK, they have been making commercial laundry equipment in Italy since the late sixties and selling globally since the Eighties. Despite being the industry nearly 20 years, I must admit I was one of those people.

When I was approached to launch the Imesa Brand in UK, I welcomed the opportunity to do so, both with excitement and trepidation. I had seen the product briefly in the UK before starting and knew about the company from what I had read, but not a lot more. It wasn’t until I went to Italy, visited the factory, and met the people that everything fell into place.

The factory is located about 20 miles outside what people in the UK will relate to as “City of Venice” whereas the locals call it “The Lagoon”.

The business is run by both second and third generations of the founding family and the business is steeped in tradition and family values. Despite being an outsider, they have made me feel very much part of the extended family and always make time for me when I go and hear what I have to say. They genuinely value your opinion and always strive to do better.

When you walk around the factory you see how deep the family’s history of engineering skills runs through its veins. If they can design it and build it rather than buy it in, they will. Over 80% of the components required to build their machines are made in-house.
